I love to direct sow these into well prepared beds in October, again in late winter, and once again in early spring when frost is likely. They require cold stratification and benefit from being harvested regularly for more continuous blooms. Cover the seeds lightly. 9” spacing between plants works great for me. I also like to cover my fall plantings with mesh so the wildlife doesn’t get to them in the winter. Blooms alongside ranunculus and peonies in the earlier part of the season. A beautiful and abundant plant that looks lovely in the landscape as well.
